Cognometrist Data-Use Notice
Last updated: July 27, 2026
This notice explains how Cognometrist handles information connected to its learning services. It supplements the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. Questions or requests can be sent to support@latentintuition.com.
Scope
This notice applies to Cognometrist’s website, accounts, study sessions, uploaded materials, assessments, payments, support communications, and related services. It does not replace the terms or privacy notices of third-party providers that support the service.
Information we collect
Account and profile information
We process account identifiers supplied by the sign-in provider and profile answers you choose to submit, such as your name, age, occupation, education level, and how you found Cognometrist.
Learning content and activity
We store the files and text you submit; extracted chunks and embeddings; generated knowledge graphs, lessons, questions, and citations; notes, highlights, thoughts, answers, and grading feedback; mastery and review history; and learning-event records. Event records can include question and answer text, model name, policy version, timestamps, and the session that produced them.
Billing, support, and technical information
Payment processors receive the billing information needed to process a subscription; Cognometrist does not intentionally store full card numbers. We may receive support messages you send us and operational information needed to secure and run the service, such as timestamps, account identifiers, service logs, request limits, and device or browser information made available by your use of the site.
How we use information
We use information to:
- provide the study experience, including source indexing, lessons, questions, feedback, mastery tracking, and spaced reviews;
- authenticate accounts, process subscriptions, respond to support, and communicate important service changes;
- operate, secure, troubleshoot, audit, and protect the service from fraud, abuse, prompt injection, and other harmful activity;
- comply with law, enforce our terms, and protect Cognometrist, learners, and others; and
- evaluate, improve, and, unless you opt out, train future Cognometrist models and learning systems.
Training and service improvement
Cognometrist plans to use eligible learning interactions to train and improve its future models, prompts, ranking systems, and lesson policies. This is an intended product use, not merely a possible use of data. It may include the study materials, questions, answers, feedback, notes, and learning outcomes described above. Training can include manual review, quality evaluation, creation of de-identified datasets, and model training or fine-tuning.
The current application does not run an automated training pipeline from learner records. Before one is enabled, Cognometrist will apply the training preference described below, use reasonable measures to reduce directly identifying information in selected records, and update this notice if the workflow materially changes. De-identifying data reduces risk but does not guarantee that re-identification is impossible.
Your training preference
The Settings page contains a “Help train and improve Cognometrist” control. It is on by default. While it is on, Cognometrist may select your eligible learning interactions for the future training and improvement activities described above. You can turn it off at any time; when it is off, we will not select your future learning interactions for those activities. Core processing required to provide your lessons, assessments, and account remains necessary even when it is off.
You can change the setting at any time. Turning it off does not undo a training or evaluation use that occurred before the change, and it may not be technically feasible to remove information from a model that has already been trained. It does stop future selection under this notice. Do not submit confidential, highly sensitive, or third-party information unless you have the right and a genuine need to provide it for learning.
Sharing and service providers
We share information only as needed to operate the service, comply with law, or protect rights and safety. Depending on the deployment, providers may include Clerk for authentication, Supabase for database and file storage, Stripe for payments, DashScope/Qwen for model inference and embeddings, and LlamaCloud for document parsing. Those providers process information under their own agreements and notices. We may also disclose information in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, sale of assets, legal request, or safety investigation. We do not sell learning data for targeted advertising.
Retention and deletion
Learning-event records are retained for four years and are then removed by automated cleanup. Study materials, sessions, notes, answers, review history, graphs, diagrams, and related application records remain until you delete them, close your account, or the deployment operator applies a different disclosed retention rule. Short-lived cost and abuse-prevention counters expire automatically after 24 hours.
Settings includes “Delete learning data.” It permanently removes the learning records held by the application while retaining the sign-in and subscription record needed to maintain your account. Account deletion removes application records and requests deletion from the sign-in provider where configured. Deletion does not necessarily remove information from backups, legal records, fraud-prevention logs, or a model or evaluation dataset that was created before your deletion request; those records are handled according to their applicable retention and legal obligations.
Security and international processing
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No system is completely secure, and you should not upload material that would cause serious harm if disclosed. Your information may be processed in countries where Cognometrist or its providers operate, which may have data laws different from those where you live.
Your choices and rights
You can update the training preference, manage study records, delete learning data where available, cancel a paid plan, or request account assistance by contacting us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of personal information. We may need to verify your identity and may retain limited information where law permits or requires it.
Children
Cognometrist is not intended for children under 13 or the minimum age required to consent where they live. If you believe a child provided personal information without appropriate permission, contact us so we can review and take appropriate action.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice as our data practices, products, providers, or legal obligations change. For a material change, we will provide notice through the service or by email when reasonably practicable. The updated date at the top shows when this notice was last revised.
