Cognometrist Privacy Policy

Effective: July 27, 2026

Cognometrist is a learning service that turns learner-provided materials into lessons, questions, feedback, and review plans. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Cognometrist collects, why it is used, when it is shared, and the choices available to you. It applies to Cognometrist’s website, applications, accounts, and related services (the “Services”).

Cognometrist’s operator is the controller of the personal information described in this policy. You can contact us about privacy at support@latentintuition.com. The Terms of Service govern use of the Services. The Data-Use Notice gives additional detail about learning records and the future training program and its opt-out.

Information we collect

The information we collect depends on the Services you use and the choices you make. We collect information directly from you, from the authentication and payment providers you choose, and automatically when you use the Services.

Category Examples Source
Account and identifiers Account ID, email address, profile details, and authentication details supplied through a sign-in provider. You and the authentication provider.
Learning content and education information Files, text, images, notes, highlights, thoughts, questions, answers, feedback, mastery records, and review history. You and your activity in the Services.
Generated and inferred learning information Extracted document chunks, embeddings, knowledge graphs, lessons, citations, scores, and review recommendations. Generated while providing the Services.
Payment and transaction information Subscription status, plan, and payment transaction information. Payment card information is handled by the payment processor. You and the payment processor.

Learning material may contain personal or sensitive information, including information about other people. Do not upload sensitive, confidential, or third-party material unless you have the right and a genuine need to use it for learning. We do not ask you to provide sensitive personal information for advertising or profiling.

How we use information

We use personal information to:

Legal bases for processing

Where privacy law requires a legal basis, we process information to perform our contract with you; with your consent for uses that require it; to meet legal obligations; and for our legitimate interests in operating a secure, useful, and sustainable learning service — including, unless you opt out, selecting eligible learning interactions for the future training and improvement work described below. We balance those interests against your rights and use less intrusive measures where appropriate. Where your consent is the basis for processing, you may withdraw it at any time; you may likewise opt out of training selection at any time in Settings. Neither affects processing that was lawful before the change.

AI-assisted learning and model improvement

Cognometrist uses automated systems and third-party model providers to create learning materials and grade responses. Relevant portions of your submitted materials and answers may be processed to deliver the requested feature. These systems make educational suggestions; they do not make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you.

Cognometrist intends to train and improve future models and learning systems with eligible user learning data. This is a planned part of the service, not merely a possible use of data. The application does not currently operate an automatic training pipeline using learner records. The “Help train and improve Cognometrist” setting is on by default: unless you turn it off, eligible future learning interactions may be selected for the uses described in the Data-Use Notice. Turning it off stops future selection. It may not be technically possible to remove information from a model, evaluation dataset, or backup created before a valid opt-out or deletion request.

How we disclose information

We do not sell personal information or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We disclose personal information only as needed for the purposes in this policy:

Providers process information under their own terms, privacy notices, and applicable agreements. Their locations and practices may change. We may publish an updated provider list or provide additional notice when a material change affects how information is processed.

Cookies and similar technologies

The Services and their providers may use essential cookies, local storage, tokens, and similar technologies to authenticate you, retain settings, prevent abuse, and keep the Services working. You can manage some technologies through browser or device controls, but blocking essential technologies may prevent parts of the Services from working. Cognometrist does not use advertising cookies for targeted advertising.

Retention and deletion

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described here, including providing the Services, resolving disputes, enforcing agreements, maintaining security, and complying with law. Learning-event records are ordinarily removed after four years. Study materials, sessions, notes, answers, graphs, diagrams, and review history remain until you delete them, close your account, or a different retention period is disclosed. Short-lived cost and abuse-prevention counters ordinarily expire after 24 hours.

You can request account assistance and may use available settings to delete learning data or your account. Deletion may take time to reach active systems and backups. We may retain limited information where necessary for legal obligations, dispute resolution, security, fraud prevention, billing records, or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims. We do not claim that de-identification or deletion from a previously trained model is always technically possible.

International transfers

Cognometrist and its providers may process information in countries other than where you live, including the United States. Those countries may have different data-protection laws. When required, we use appropriate transfer safeguards, such as contractual commitments, technical and organizational measures, or another lawful transfer mechanism. You may contact us for information about the safeguards relevant to a transfer of your personal information.

Security

We use reasonable technical, administrative, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, including access controls, authentication, encryption in transit where supported, and security monitoring. No method of storage or transmission is fully secure. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and should avoid uploading information that would cause serious harm if disclosed.

Your privacy rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, or objection to our processing of your personal information; to receive a portable copy; to withdraw consent; and to opt out of certain profiling, targeted advertising, sale, or sharing. Cognometrist does not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising. We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.

To make a request, email support@latentintuition.com from the email associated with your account and describe your request. We may need to verify your identity or authority before acting. An authorized agent may submit a request where allowed by law, subject to verification. If we deny a request, you may ask us to reconsider by replying to our decision. You may also complain to the data-protection or privacy regulator where you live.

EEA, UK, and Switzerland

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you may have rights to information, access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, and not to be subject to certain solely automated decisions. You may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Where consent is the basis for processing, you can withdraw it at any time.

United States and other regional laws

Residents of California and other U.S. states with applicable privacy laws may have rights to know or access, correct, delete, obtain a portable copy of, and limit certain uses of sensitive personal information. We use sensitive information, if any, only to provide and secure the requested Services, comply with law, or with your consent; we do not use it to infer characteristics for advertising. Residents of other regions, including Canada, Australia, Brazil, and jurisdictions with similar laws, may have comparable rights. Contact us to exercise them.

Children

Cognometrist is not intended for children under 13, or below the minimum age at which they can consent to the Services where they live. If a minor needs parental or guardian consent under applicable law, that permission must be obtained before using the Services. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate permission, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Services, providers, or legal requirements change. We will post the updated policy with a new effective date and, for material changes, provide additional notice when required by law. If you continue to use the Services after the effective date, the updated policy applies to the extent permitted by law.
